Parts Of Twitter Source Code Leaked Online

Twitter has disclosed that certain parts of its source code have been leaked online.

In a legal filing, the company stated that the fundamental computer code on which the social network runs was leaked on GitHub, a platform where software developers share code.

Following Twitter’s request for removal, Microsoft-owned GitHub took down the code.

Additionally, Twitter asked the Northern District of California’s District Court, where it submitted its legal document, to provide information on the individual behind the account that leaked the code.

Twitter claimed that the source code postings infringed copyrights owned by the company.

It has been reported that the leaker used the name “FreeBeach Enthusiast” on GitHub, referencing Elon Musk’s self-proclaimed status as a free-speech enthusiast.

The disclosure comes after Musk is believed to have indicated to Twitter employees that the firm is now worth less than half of the $44 billion he paid for it in October 2022.

This situation presents yet another issue for the billionaire since his deal to take Twitter private, with the company having undergone significant turmoil since then, including widespread layoffs and advertisers leaving the platform.

Twitter has not commented on the matter.

Recently, Musk announced that the company would respond to all press inquiries to its email press office account with a poop emoji.
