India’s curse continues
India’s cricket curse in world cup continues, as India’s women‘s team got eliminated after loosing to Australia in the semis. This nail biting match reminds 2019 world cup where India’s men’s team was eliminated in the semis by kiwi’s.
Australia after winning the toss decided to bat first and managed to give a strong target to India. In the inning of 172 they lost 4 wickets, 2 to Shikha Pandey, and 1 to each: Deepti Sharma & Radha Yadav. The highest run scorer for the defending champions was Mooney(54) followed by Lanning(49*), Gardner(31).
The openers were looking fabulous and provided them with a very strong start. But the main damage were done by the middle order. India did well till the 15th, but the last 5 overs was like a nightmare to the Indians.
With the pressure of a very huge target in the decider, India’s top order collapsed. We lost our first three wickets on 28, but inspite of these three wickets Jemimah and Harmanpreet did a very great job which kept us on the match. Jemimah was looking good but after scoring 43 in just 24 balls with a very good strike rate she gave her wicket to Brown. India was looking great untill the unfortunate runout of Harmanpreet at the score of 52 in just 34 balls. India needed 40 runs in 32 balls with 5 wickets in hand. Striker Richa ghosh was taken in the long on after which Deepti Sharma tried but wickets were falling on the other side. Inida however managed to score 167 with the loss of 8 wickets and lost the match in the very last over with 5 runs.
Harmanpreet scored the highest 52 runs for India followed by Jemimah(43) and Deepti(20). both Brown & Gardner took 2 wickets and Schutt & Jonassen took singke wicket. Harmanpreet’s unfortunate runout remided us the 2019’s world cup runout of MS Dhoni by the kiwis where we got eliminated by the kiwis in the semi-final.
Indian women‘s did a great job and played really well but unfortunately the result didn’t went on their side.
