Virtue & Vice.
Man is different from other animals just because of his adopted morals otherwise man is no better than animals this is visible truth. Those morals are called Virtues by spiritualists.
One saying in Sanskrit Goes like this:-
आहार-निद्रा-भय-मैथुनं च समानमेतत्पशुभिर्नराणाम् । धर्मो हि तेषामधिको विशेषो धर्मेण हीनाः पशुभिः समानाः ॥
इति हितोपदेशे ।”
” Eating, Sleeping, Defence & Sex these are similar in men & animals but only Virtue is special in men, without virtue men are equal to animals. ” – Hitopadesha.
Thus as per this only virtue makes men different from animals.
There are so many conflicts within so many moralists to decide what's virtue? & what's vice?. Some say one thing as virtue other holds the opposite view, some other have totally different view about particular thing which general people entertain as strange thought!. So what could be the solution to these conflicts? to this one Sanskrit saying answers thus:-
“श्लोकार्धेन प्रवक्ष्यामि यदुक्तं ग्रन्थकोटिभिः। परोपकारः पुण्याय पापाय परपीडनम् ॥”
“I will tell that (truth) which is told (again & again) in crores of scriptures (which is) – ” Helping others causes Virtue, Harming others causes Vice.”
So as per this that resultant value which have been caused by Helping others is Virtue conversely that resultant value which have been caused by Harming others is Vice. Here ends the conflict to define what's virtue & what's vice?. Man can be said to possess humanity if he has compassion within his heart towards other humans & also other living beings. This is general thought accepted by all groups of humans of all ages in all regions of the world. So the generalization of virtue & vice is that one should do good to others if he want to be glorified as virtuous & one should do bad to others if he want to be stamped as sinful. That's It!.
So all humans should learn how to help other humans as well as other living beings around them leaving the harming tendency behind to make the earth another heaven!.
Helping other humans could be in the form of providing food, clothes, shelter & other basic necessities. Helping other living beings could be in the form of providing food, shelter, protection & other basic necessities. These simple actions can definitely create harmonious environment all over the world!.
Harming other humans could be in the form of steeling, murder, rapes etc. Harming other living beings could be in the form of slaughter, deforestation, pollution etc. These wicked actions can eventually consume the whole world, leaving it in hellish condition more than hell!. With the advancement of technology man's heart has so much shrunken that he cannot even talk nicely with the person sitting next to him even if he is his own father!. He has become just like a robot without good & enchanting emotions running here & there, working like donkeys, earning just a piece of bread at the end of the day!.
Purpose of this article isn't hurting anyone's sentiments but the purpose is just to make one realise the value of morality, virtue & helping. Without Virtue Men are no better than Animals which can kill even same species in the fight for 4 things mentioned above!.
