8 Effective Tools for Removing Pilling and Lint from Clothes

8 Effective Tools for Removing Pilling and Lint from Clothes

Lint and bobbles not only make your look dull and worn-out, but also ruin their texture in the longer run. The same dress that used to be oh so full of life is now just a shabby piece of fabric thanks to lint and pilling. Hurts, doesn’t it?

Luckily, you can use lint removers to tackle this problem. From rollers to shavers to fabric care detergents, there are hundreds of different options available on the market. In this guide, we will share the 8 best lint removers for your wardrobe. Let’s get started!

Conair Fabric Shaver CSL1

Conair is a highly popular brand for cotton lint removers and fabric shavers. The CLS1 comes in different colours and can be safely used for most household garments. Unlike most shavers, it doesn’t need multiple passes to collect all of the pills from the . And the best part? It’s really easy to use.

After the first swipe, more than 75% of the pilling will be wiped off. You can hold it easily thanks to the attached ergonomic handle. Plus, it’s compact in size which makes it a perfect companion. However, this means that the collection bin of the shaver is also very small so may need to empty it frequently when cleaning larger garments such as blankets, and coats.

BIORESTORE cotton lint remover

BIORESTORE Re-Tergent is one of the latest innovations in laundry care. It is a lint remover powder for clothing made of at least 70% cotton. It targets lint and pilling and restores the original colour and handfeel of garments in only one home laundry wash.

Simply add your clothing with lint and pilling to the washing machine and then add the recommended amount of BIORESTORE directly in the washer. One box is typically enough for depilling 1kg of garments.

Working as part of a 2-hour cool wash, once the laundry cycle is completed, toss the clothing in a tumble-drier for a quick spin and you’re done. In terms of effectiveness, BIORESTORE is much better than any of the other lint remover tools that I have ever used

NOTE: BIORESTORE doesn’t work on all of clothing so you can only use it for cotton and cotton blends.

Gleener Fabric Shaver and Lint Remover

One of my favourites- the Gleener fabric shaver and lint remover is a 2-in-1 device that removes both lint and pilling from your clothing. It comes in 5 different colours and is a really handy tool that can be used easily by anyone.

There are multiple amazing features in this device. Firstly, it is a manual shaver i.e. it does not need batteries or electricity to function. Secondly, there are three different edges for bulky to medium to delicate fabrics. Finally, there is an integrated lint brush on the other side of the device that picks up pet hair, fuzz, and dandruff.

It’s important to stay cautious during the depilling process as applying more than necessary pressure can lead to fabric damage and tearing. Also, in cases of severe lint and pilling, you may need to take multiple swipes for thoroughly cleaning the fabric.

Chainplus Clothes Brush

This clothes brush features pure boar bristles that can effectively capture lint but are still soft enough to take care of your garments. Lay the fabric flat on a neat surface and start brushing the affected areas. In just a few seconds, you can get rid of all lint, fuzz, and dust.

The brush is made of biodegradable materials which don’t cause any harm to the environment, making it more sustainable than tape rollers. You can easily use it on a variety of garments such as leather shoes, clothes, and even handbags.

While this clothing brush is an excellent lint remover, keep in mind that it doesn’t work on pills and bobbles. Moreover, for harder fabrics such as denims, you may need to select a sturdier tool.

Phillips Fabric Shaver GC026/80

The Phillips GC026 is an excellent pilling remover that comes with a large blade surface to cover a larger surface area at once. These blades rotate up to 8800 rounds per minute for effectively cutting off all the pills from the surface of the garment. From your sweaters to your blankets, you can make everything look like new again with this shaver.

The only catch is that it doesn’t work on lint and pet hair. Moreover, if the tool is not cleaned properly, it can hinder its overall performance.

Scoth Brite Everyday Cleaner Lint Roller

This is a great lint remover for picking up fuzz, hair, and other debris from your clothing. The ergonomic handle makes it super easy to use, but you need to replace the adhesive after each use, so it’s not really sustainable.

While it’s not a great addition to your everyday laundry care regime, you can use it as a last resort or just-in-case lint remover.

The Laundress Sweater Stone

Knits and sweaters require extra TLC to keep looking and feeling their best. Traditional pumice stones can tear and damage the fabrics, but this sweater stone is gentler, making it a good fit for cleaning delicate fabrics. In case of intense lint or pilling, take multiple swipes until the fabric is thoroughly cleaned.

Feeke Fabric Shaver

The Feeke Fabric Shaver is a cost-friendly and effective pill remover for reviving everyday clothing. While it’s not as long lasting as some other alternatives on the market, it is still a pretty decent choice for someone who doesn’t want to break their budget.

How to take off lint from clothes?

Traditional (and not always effective) ways to remove lint include sticky tape, lint rollers, or clothing brushes. For a hassle freeway, that utilizes modern laundry science try BIORESTORE Re-Tergent as this is a proven lint remover powder for fabrics made of at least 70% cotton. However, with all thing’s laundry related, always read the care label, check the fabric composition and of course take a minute to read the instructions before use, so that depending on the fabric type and severity of lint, you can pick the best remover for your needs.

How to get lint off clothes?

BIORESTORE Re-Tergent is the best lint remover in washing machine. Add your pilled clothing in the washer and then add the recommended amount of BIORESTORE cotton. Run a cycle at 40 degrees for 2 hours. When the cycle is completed, toss the clothing in the tumble drier, and just like that your clothing will be free of lint and pilling.
